One Thing

One thing I have asked of the Lord, and this is what I will seek after:
That I may  dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in his temple.
Psalm 27:4

I love this verse. David’s “one thing” is really three things.  And oh, each of them draws me like a magnet.
To be where Jesus is, in Father’s house, right there in his presence…
To be able to gaze and look and enjoy at my leisure his amazingness, his beauty, his glory…
And to have every day to meditate upon him, his word, his teachings, and ask him questions, any questions I want to ask…
The awesome thing is, I can do that. His presence is accessible to me every day. And like David, it is my desire to grow in that choice to keep my eyes on him and to be present with him every single day.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Father for desiring relationship with me. Thank you, Jesus for going to the cross so that the curtain between where I am and where you are was ripped open from top to bottom.
Thank you for giving us free will so that we can choose daily to live there with you.
I do choose it, Jesus. I choose you.
